Sheffield based stainless steel and special metals fabricator Steel Line Ltd has just completed the manufacture of new platform seating for Sunderland Station. Part of a 7.5M refurbishment by BAM Nuttall Construction.

The "Stand Up" range of seats and benches designed by Wales and Wales was specified by project architects Sadler Brown Architecture after presentation to Network Rail and Nexus the joint station operators.

Manufactured in S304/S316 grade options Steel Line’s flagship product is a combination of a bead blasted perforated seat and back with a framework of satin polished flat and curved stainless plates. There are no visible welds, giving the seat a sculpted look.

Stand Up seats and benches can be free standing or easily bolted down to a solid surface and are ideal products for concourses, shopping centres, transport exchanges and railway stations.

The seating is part of a Stand Up suite of furniture which includes bollards, cycle stand and litterbin designs.

Steel Line bespoke stainless steel handrail and balustrade systems are in use in office blocks, town centres, swimming pools, sea and river fronts and leisure centres throughout the United Kingdom.
