Stepnell chosen for Stanbrook Abbey refurb

9 Apr 14 Stepnell has won a contract to carry out the latest phase of redevelopment at the Stanbrook Abbey wedding and events venue at Callow End near Malvern in Worcestershire.

The work is for Amazing Venues, which has a portfolio of unusual properties across the UK. Stepnell’s Kidderminster-based team will carry out a multi-multi-pound programme of work including the  conversion of approximately 90 former nuns’ cells at the 19th century Grade II listed Abbey - a former Benedictine monastery - into 52 luxury en-suite bedrooms and suites.

The project, designed by Kidderminster-based architects Howl Associates, will also include a major new stone-clad extension to the Abbey’s north wing to create a new reception area, bar and an enlarged, double-height banqueting space. An new gated entrance has been created for guests within the walled grounds of the Abbey.

Amazing Venues opened Stanbrook Abbey, which is set in 21 acres of countryside, as a luxury venue for weddings, conferences and corporate events in 2012. The latest phase of work is set to complete in November 2014.
