Strategic appointment for Ocon

Manchester based Ocon Construction has appointed Rob Greaves to the new role of development director.

Formerly Opal Property Group’s Senior Acquisition Manager, Rob has been with the Group since 1998, working in a number of roles with responsibilities that have included driving the successful development of many of Opal’s Student Accommodation Schemes.

Rob’s appointment is a key element in Ocon’s strategic move towards diversifying its business to include property development in addition to its core contracting expertise.

Explains managing director, Andrew Barker: “We are extremely successful as a construction contractor and part of that success has been built on providing clients with added value and a solutions-driven approach to making projects happen.  This move towards becoming a contractor with a proven development skill  takes that culture to the next level, not only enhancing our routes to market and offering clients additional possibilities for working with us in new ways. but also creating our own construction work through selective property development. ”

Bringing both development expertise and funding networks to Ocon, Rob’s role will be to assist the company in generating development and joint venture opportunities to sit alongside its continuing contracting work. He will also work closely with Ocon’s Business Development Manager, Nick Williamson-Corbett, on the strategic development of the company.
