Sweett names new chief executive

24 Feb 15 Construction consultant Sweett Group has appointed former Atkins director Douglas McCormick as its new chief executive officer.

Douglas McCormick joins Sweet as CEO on 2nd March, when John Dodds will revert to being non-executive chairman.

Mr Dodds had been standing in since the departure of Dean Webster in October.

Douglas McCormick has more than 30 years' experience in the construction industry and was until recently group managing director for rail at Atkins (UK), responsible for £200m of revenues and more than 1,700 staff across the UK, India and China.

Before joining Atkins in 2002 he was commercial director at Metronet Alliance and Trans4m Ltd. In his earlier career he was a project management director at Faithful + Gould, Scotland and Ireland.

Mr McCormick is a fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, a commissioner for the UK Commission for Employment & Skills and a non-executive director of the Institute for Collaborative Working.

John Dodds said that Mr McCormick “has the ideal background and combination of skills necessary to reinvigorate the company".
