Team picked for $6bn Melbourne tunnel

17 Jul 17 The design-build team has been chosen for the biggest transport project in the history of the Australian state of Victoria, the AU$6bn (£3.6bn) Metro Tunnel.

The Cross Yarra Partnership (CYP) – a consortium led by Lendlease Engineering, John Holland, Bouygues Construction and Capella Capital – has been selected to build the Metro Tunnel and five new underground stations in Melbourne. The decision follows an extensive competitive tender process involving international construction and tunnelling contractors.

The shortlist had been announced in August last year (link opens in new tab).

Major construction on the tunnel and stations expected to start next year. The package is expected to create more than 5,000 jobs.
