Tendering starts for $10bn NY airport project

19 Jul 17 A request for proposals (RFP) has been issued for the planning and engineering of a US$10bn (£7.7bn) redevelopment project at New York’s John F Kennedy International Airport.

The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey is seeking a project team to lead the preliminary engineering process and development for the scheme.

The launch of the RFP is complemented by US$1.5bn in new funding commitments by the state of New York for improvements to the Van Wyck Expressway and Kew Gardens Interchange. The upgrades will improve access to the airport and reduce congestion.

The chosen firm will follow a blueprint laid out by the state governor, Andrew Cuomo, to reimagine aspects such as the airport's terminals, roads, AirTrain, parking, cargo facilities, airside facilities and supporting infrastructure.
