Tile producer grows capacity

1 Oct 14 Russell Roof Tiles is responding to an upturn in demand from house-builders by increasing production capacity at one of its Burton on Trent manufacturing plant.

Russell Roof Tiles has seen its sales go up by almost 30% this year so far.

Work on a £2m upgrade at the factory will start next spring and be fully operational by Christmas 2015. The improvements are designed to improve speed and efficiency and provide a 30% increase in capacity.   The project will include a new rotary packaging system from Vortex Hydra, which first designed and installed the plant in 1990.

Last year Russell Roof Tiles invested £250,000 on its 10-acre site in Lockerbie site. This latest upgrade at Burton on Trent follows a £2m investment to install a new line in Burton in 2012.

Managing director Andrew Hayward said: “As well as investing in employee talent it is vital that we continue to innovate and invest in plant and equipment and this latest upgrade is proof of that.

“Now that the construction sector has started to look more positive we need to ensure we gear up for continued future growth.”
