Vinci and Hochtief land €255m Slovakian motorway deal

28 May 14 A Vinci-led consortium has won a €255m (£213m) contract to build a new section of the D3 motorway in Slovakia.

Vinci subsidiary Eurovia is leading the consortium with a 48% share and will work with Hochtief CZ (40%) and Vinci’s SMP CZ (12%).

The new 4.2km section will link Strážov and Brodno on the outskirts of Žilina in the northern part of the country. The project includes the construction of four engineering structures: a 2.2km tunnel and three bridges, one of which is a 1.4 km viaduct across the Hričovská dam. The contract also covers a large number of ancillary works, including restoration of secondary road networks, a variety of drainage works and the installation of all required motorway equipment such as emergency call boxes, met stations, variable message boards, ice warning and video surveillance systems.

About 500 people will be working on the project for a period of three years.
