Vinci signs €3bn Portuguese airport deal

22 Feb 13 Vinci has signed a deal with the Portuguese government to acquire ANA, the country’s airports concession company.

The transaction is worth €3.08bn (£2.68bn) and includes the right to build a new Lisbon airport when the capacity of the current airport reaches saturation.

ANA holds the 50-year concession for Portugal’s 10 airports: Lisbon, Porto, Faro and Beja on the mainland; Ponta Delgada, Horta, Flores and Santa Maria in the Azores; and Funchal and Porto Santo in Madeira.  Its concession contract with the Portuguese government gives ANA the exclusive right to negotiate the construction and operation of a new airport in Lisbon when it is needed.

Share transfer will take place once the agreement has been approved by the relevant competition authorities.

With this acquisition, Vinci will be managing 23 airports in Portugal, France and Cambodia, handling more than 40 million passengers a year. Total revenue will exceed €600m, for earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation of about €270m.
