Vinci to create new visitor centre at Versailles

4 Mar 15 Vinci Group has signed an agreement to convert the Dufour Pavilion at the Chateau of Versailles into a visitor centre.

Vinci has been a patron of the chateau for more than a decade. The conversion of the Dufour Pavilion and the Old Wing of the chateau is part of the masterplan for the ‘Grand Versailles’ restoration and modernisation programme signed in 2003.

The latest project will bring together the reception area and the full range of visitor services, optimise flow management and create a single exit for all tours of the site. Dominique Perrault, who won the project architecture competition initiated in 2011, has rethought the entire visitor entrance area while retaining the appearance of the buildings. The project will conserve the few remaining heritage elements of this part of the Chateau, which was extensively refurbished in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Vinci Construction France companies Lainé Delau and Degaine will carry out the structural works and Vinci Energies company will handle the electrical works packages.
