Wacker Neuson has signed up as a sponsor of the new, purpose-built Tunnelling & Underground Construction Academy (TUCA), which is one of eight campuses of the National Construction College.
The equipment manufacturer is also supplying 15,000 rebar ties and its product specialists will be making regular presentations to students.
TUCA's tunnel product manager Melvyn Parr said: “This is a great opportunity for our students to benefit from using the new technology. We are really pleased that Wacker Neuson has recognised the importance of training students with the latest equipment and we can now look forward to giving our students exposure to the DF16.”
The Wacker Neuson DF16 mechanical rebar tier (below) can be used with just one hand and can tie up to 1,000 knots per hour, the manufacturer says.
