Wates is working on a £5m development of 16 one bedroom flats and 36 two and three bedroom houses in the Orchard Park area of Hull for the city council and housing association Riverside. It is also preferred bidder for a development of 300 extra care apartments and is a shortlisted bidder for a major maintenance programme with Hull City Council to improve the energy efficiency of council houses.
Regional managing director Joanne Jamieson said: “We invest heavily in the communities in which we build, so it made good business-sense to establish a dedicated base in Hull and is a demonstration of our ongoing commitment to the city. Presently there is a significant shortfall of quality affordable houses in Hull and Wates is pleased to be helping the council to address this issue.”
