Wates wins £14m Nottingham school contract

17 Dec 14 Wates Construction has booked a £14m design and build contract to reconstruct part of Arnold Hill Academy in Nottingham.

Wates has been contracted to build 8,200 m2 of replacement teaching space, science labs, a drama studio and a sports hall.

The work will be carried out on the existing site alongside the existing school building. On completion the upper school will be demolished to make way for relocated sports pitches and extensive landscaping.

Construction is expected to start in spring 2015, once design work is completed. Build completion is scheduled for 2016, followed by demolition works.

Wates Construction regional business unit director Richard Scarrott said: “We have a long-established presence in Nottingham, through which we have built a local supply chain that we will be calling upon for the Arnold Hill Academy.”
