Wates wins Milton Keynes Museum extension

7 Oct 14 Wates Construction has landed a £7.3m contract to build two new galleries for Milton Keynes Museum.

Construction is not expected to start until spring 2016, with completion scheduled for the end of 2016.

Designed by Nicholas Hare Associates, plans for the new scheme include exhibits of the town’s pre-historic period through to the present day. The project is funded by Milton Keynes Council, the Heritage Lottery Fund and Arts Council England.

Wates secured the contract through the Milton Keynes Construction Framework. 

Wates’ recent work in the heritage and museums sector includes the refurbishment of Lion Salt Works in Northwich, the last remaining open-pan salt works in the UK, and the expansion of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
