Whitemountain, part of the Lagan group, has been given a £13m contract to manage the construction and civil engineering of landside infrastructure and transport facilities.

Scope of works includes upgrading the existing approach road to the terminal building turned into a dual carriageway, redeveloping the short stay car parks and on-airport road network, remodelling the set-down area and repositioning the coach terminal. Whitemountain has already begun work on the site.

Capacity at Luton Airport is being expanded from 12 million to 18 million passengers per year by 2026. Other enhancements include improved rail services and road access and more shops.

Whitemountain commercial manager John Donaghy said: “The development happening at London Luton is really exciting. There is a big ambition to transform the airport and we’re very happy to be delivering works on landside infrastructure and transport facilities.”
