The project will create a new school and college for 11-18 year olds built on land formerly used by the Cardiff & Vale further education college for its Trowbridge campus.
The contract award comes as Willmott Dixon hands over the keys to a new campus for Cardiff & Vale College in the centre of Cardiff.
The new Eastern High School is expected to be completed by September 2017.
