Charles Church South Midlands is developing the site as part of a £100m regeneration of the area.

Charles Church is investing £20m in the construction of 98 executive homes – “each built with a special arts and crafts theme and designed to reflect the local history and unique situation of the site” – the builder says. Charles Church is also putting in a new cricket pitch and pavilion to create a village green style setting three miles from the centre of Birmingham. It is calling the development The Oval.

Andy Peters, managing director of Charles Church South Midlands, said: “These are very exciting times for Selly Oak and we are investing £100m into the regeneration of this iconic site, with around £20m on this first phase.”
