Portsmouth City Council, invite expressions of interest from contractors to provide the replacement of Northern Road Bridge, Cosham, Portsmouth. It is currently anticipated that the contract will be awarded in August 2010 and will include the design and construction of a full bridge replacement, management of Statutory Undertakers plant diversions, liaison and planning with Network Rail for track possessions associated with the works and any other associated highway improvements. It is anticipated that the construction works will start on site in Spring 2011 and will be completed by the end of March 2012. II.2) QUANTITY OR SCOPE OF THE CONTRACT

II.2.1) Total quantity or scope:

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced civil engineering contractors wishing to be considered for inclusion in a select list of Tenderers for a bridge replacement scheme. Northern Road Bridge is a single span reinforced concrete structure carrying the A397 over the railway between Porchester and Cosham. The proposed works include the design and construction of a full bridge replacement, management of Statutory Undertakers plant diversions, liaison and planning with Network Rail for track possessions associated with the works and other associated highway improvements. The contract is due to commence in August 2010 with construction works starting in Spring 2011 and being completed by the end of March 2012. Estimated value excluding VAT: 5 000 000 GBP.

The pre-qualification questionnaire can be obtained via Portsmouth City Council's InTend system which can be. Accessed via in-tendhost . Expressions of interest must be made by way of completion and return of the. Pre-qualification questionnaire via InTend. The new structure will be maintained by PCC's existing Highways PFI contractor. PCC reserves the right to invite variant tenders at the Invitation to Tender stage. Further details will be included in the Invitation to Tender if PCC exercises its right to invite variant tenders. PCC may accept variant bids in addition to a standard bid provided that PCC's core requirements are met and provided that the variant bid is submitted in accordance with the tender/contract documents. Candidates are advised that PCC is subject to the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the "Act") and the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 (the "Regulations"). If a candidate considers that any of the information supplied as part of this procurement procedure should not be disclosed because of its commercial sensitivity, confidentiality or otherwise, they must, when providing this information, clearly identify the specific information they do not wish to be disclosed and clearly specify the reasons for its sensitivity.
