The first unit of the latest addition to Case’s D series line-up was recently delivered to Terrassement Berger by its local dealer Dannemark SA.

The CX245D SR is a 26-tonne machine with a 160 HP engine that meets Stage IV (and Tier 4 Final, for American readers) emissions standards through a combination of selective catalytic reduction (SCR) and diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) technologies.

Terrassement Berger is a construction company based in Crisnée, near Liège. It specialises in earthmoving work and wanted a machine that would enable the business to take on bigger jobs. For this it needed a powerful and compact machine capable of working in city centres.

The CX245D SR was the recommendation of Xavier Dannemark of Dannemark.

The compact counterweight and modified boom placement minimise the machine’s footprint. With an operating weight of 26 tonnes and a 160 HP Stage IV engine, it offers more bucket digging forces and lift capacity than its predecessor. The new electronically controlled pump, larger control valve and multiple sensors result in faster cycles, Case says. Couple with the Case Intelligent Hydraulic System and advanced energy management, the result is max power for min fuel.

The new CX245D SR is already working on a new-build in Flémalle, near Liège. Mr Berger of Terrassement Berger seems happy so far, saying that the machine is fast and powerful and suitably compact.

“And on top of this, it looks beautiful,” he says.
