Speech and Language Therapist

Job Description

We at Protocol are partnered with an established FE college group in the South London area. We are seeking an experienced Speech and Language to join a specialist team in September on a full-time basis.

The successful candidate will play a crucial part in supporting the learning and development of the students who require specialist support within the Speech and Language Therapy position



Role responsibilities
Assesses and support learners to provide a rich and stretching learning experience for learners and initiate improvements in their achievement and progression.
Undertake a lead role in the development of support programmes for learners with complex learning difficulties, communication difficulties, Autistic Spectrum Disorder and Attention Deficit Disorder
Coordinate Speech and Language Therapy referrals for the college.
Advise other staff in interviewing, selection and support learners with complex learning difficulties, Autistic Spectrum Disorder and Attention Deficit Disorders
Use a range of teaching and learning strategies appropriate to the needs of the learners, regularly review and adapts own teaching materials in response to both internal and external factor such as learner feedback and new research
Take part in the review and evaluation of support content and delivery in line with the quality systems and advise the manager on the updating of support content, delivery and specialist resources.
Plan and deliver related staff development
Continually update and improve professional knowledge
Access the appropriate professional support/supervision required
Refer students to both internal and external sources of support and guidance where appropriate
Maintain contact with parents/guardians and other agencies as appropriate
Keep accurate and high quality records to meet audit deadlines


The person & qualifications
Has an extensive working knowledge of Argumentative and Alternative Communication system that will provide learners with complex needs with appropriate group and individual support.
Successful recent record of assessing learners with a wide range of speech and language impairments
Successful record of devising and implementing programmes of speech and language support
Experience of writing assessment reports for a wide audience
Working in a multi-disciplinary team
