Associate Project Manager

Job Description

THE ROLE

My client, a large firm of construction and engineering consultants seeks an ASSOCIATE PROJECT MANAGER to join them in MANCHESTER to work on new build, refurbishment and fit-out of projects for the public and private sectors.

In addition the team is supporting projects for the Government Property Agency which is providing a number of high quality offices spaces.

You will carry out the full range of project management duties from feasibility through project delivery.

You will deal directly with clients and be able to run your own projects ideally without supervision as well as supervise others when required.

THE CLIENT

My client is a successful international firm of construction and engineering consultants and this role is in their team that provides cost management and project management across a wide range of sectors.

Their project management team is highly successful working with a good range of clients in both private and public sectors.

Clients are wide based and projects that have been worked on recently include theatres, universities, office fit out, exhibition centres, healthcare, offices and more.

THE CANDIDATE

You will need to have a BSc or BSc Hons or Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying, Construction Project Management, Engineering, Architecture or another construction / built environment subject.

You may also have a project management qualification i.e. PRINCE2, APM, MSc etc.

Ideally you will be MRICS / MAPM / RIBA / CIOB or similarly qualified.

You also need to have at least six years' minimum experience working as a Project Manager post graduation in the construction industry.

You should have worked for another firm of construction consultants or multi disciplinary consultants or "client-side" ideally although someone from a main contractor may be considered.

Experience of working on high value projects across a range of building sectors is preferred.

Experience in the use of JCT and/or NEC contracts is essential.

You will need to have good experience of contract administration, being able to engage with the client and construction and design teams to move the project forward to completion.

You will need to have Line Management experience and enjoy motivating and mentoring your team members.

You should be able to work with the team to move the project forward harmoniously thus avoiding risks, claims and disputes if possible.

My client seeks candidates who have excellent communication skills (both written and spoken), who are enthusiastic and dynamic to deal with challenging projects and demanding clients and able to work without supervision.

You must be able to take full responsibility for projects including client management, the project team and project finances.

You will need to have a stable work record with known firms.
