Quarry Supervisor

Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Quarry Supervisor based at our Flagship Glensanda Quarry. Glensanda is the largest granite quarry in Europe, exporting to markets all across Northern Europe. It has an annual production capacity in excess of 9 million tonnes and a massive 760 million tonnes reserve of granite. About the role You will effectively supervise and co-ordinate site operations in order to safely maintain production and satisfy customer demand. Safety is a priority. Production must be optimised and the site and facilities kept in a well-maintained condition. Other elements to the role include: To assist the Primary Production Manager in the application, implementation of and compliance with the company’s Cardinal Rules, Health and Safety policy, Environmental Policy, Site Specific Rules and to ensure that all activities under your control are conducted within the requirements of current legislation Act as 8.1e representation for Aggregate Industries in the Primary Productions Operations Area; reporting into a Production Manager at all times Carry out geotechnical and fixed plant inspections Supervise employees and contractors on site to ensure compliance with safe working practices Manage, control and co-ordinate the maintenance of fixed and mobile plant to maximise equipment uptime Supervise the recording of any required information and collate and process said information Ensure plant/equipment and activities comply with corporate policies and procedures Continuously challenge the safety performance and standards of plant and personnel Investigate incidents Carry out site safety tours (VPC’s) Report incidents, defects and safety concerns Carry out any other reasonable tasks within the scope of your operation and abilities as and when required. What will you bring? A thorough understanding of the Quarries Regulations 1999, Statutory Health and Safety, and Employment Legislation Self-motivated, with initiative and a proactive approach Previous management experience Demonstrable experience of a similar or equivalent role Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective working relations with others Understanding of budgets and financial responsibility Experience of working as part of a highly functioning team ​What’s on offer?
