Technical Manager

Job Description

Our client has is looking for an experienced Technical Manager within the Midlands area, very good understanding of working within the Critical M&E environment and good team leadership

Salary £58K + (£8,500 car allowance)

Key areas for success will be:

  • Attendance at all Project Meetings assigned to the individual to ensure that are sufficiently represented and engaged at all stages of project activity at the property concerned.
  • Ensure elements and phases of the projects are handed over, witnessed and documented in line with all Organisation / Client processes.
  • Ensure suitable training is given to all critical engineers on new systems.
  • Develop EoP / SoP on back of new equipment install.
  • HV Authorised - Perform and manage others during switching for isolations and processes.
  • Act as Technical Authority, providing advice and assistance to maintenance team as required throughout project delivery.
  • Ensure that all asset data is live and up to date on the Organisation / Client systems. (Assets installed / removed).
  • Obtain all warranty details are stored in electronic database.
  • Ensure that all Critical works are supported by CEWA programme, impact assessments, Safety Programmes.
  • Provide valued input into development of the forward critical maintenance plan for new assets.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the portfolio buildings in terms of their layout, functions and complexities
  • Issue and maintain Technical bulletins within a central depository.
  • Management and control of all technical matters relating to plant and equipment maintenance including existing equipment, new works and future upgrade works
  • Identify potential technical improvements for existing plant and equipment maintenance to facilitate improved reliability and /or cost reduction with fully supported documentation
  • Technical guidance on all aspects of engineering, Design approval (Organisation Governance process)
  • Adherence to Organisation / Client Change control and other management processes
  • Provision of quality management information and reporting to Organisation / Client
  • Good communications with Staff, Client and all other Organisation / Client
  • Effective document management and administration reporting.
  • Management of Sub-Contractors and Direct personnel.
  • Engineering technical support to Critical Service Technicians
  • Positive innovative contribution and lead by example.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Managing and being part of a team to support project activity, the individual will have specific responsibility to ensure that Organisation are supporting and are pivotal to perform the functions listed. The role will ensure the delivery of client projects are not delayed, and to work together with the project delivery teams to operate within timelines

The individual should have a proven engineering management background with at least 5 years' experience at management level and have the confidence and credibility to effectively manage client expectations and provide an efficient and cost effective service

The individual must possess the drive and self-motivation to work independently, along with excellent communication skills necessary to operate effectively within the broader department and business as a whole

The Technical Manager will work in a challenging, demanding and continually changing environment

The individual will need to demonstrate a proven track record of planning and execution of technical engineering. The individual must possess recognised electrical or mechanical engineering qualifications and should demonstrate the ability to manage and lead a team and liaise closely with other divisions of the organisation as required

Managing the delivery of technical engineering projects which meet the Bank's needs and a clear understanding for mitigating risk

Management and understanding of their critical infrastructure

Ensuring that internal clients and sponsors' expectations for priority and delivery are well-managed, and that they remain well-appraised of the progress of their works

Developing an appreciation by internal clients and sponsors of the work being undertaken and the risks and opportunities for the business

Develop systems, procedures and process maps for delivering and improving the technical functions.

Health & Safety

Understand and implement H&S policy requirements.

Authorised person - responsible for all H&S Permit to Work controls.

Ensure full disclosure / acceptance of H&S information.

Deliver dynamic H&S risk assessment to team (based on above) at the start of each shift.

Ensure Health & Safety awareness culture is promoted

Ensure Risk Assessment and Method statements are followed.

Ensure correct PPE is used as applicable.

Regularly review risk assessments and audit H&S compliance of direct team and peer group

Qualifications

Professional trade specific qualifications, leadership experience, Authorised person

Experience

  • Substantial intermediate experience working within M&E building maintenance.
  • Substantial intermediate experience in a Data Centre / Critical Environment.
  • Demonstrate experience & understanding of current Health & Safety.
  • Demonstrate management experience of working in Blue Chip Environment.
