Job Description

Catfoss Recruitment Ltd are currently in partnership with an well-established international Power Generation company. Due to continued business growth they are looking to recruit a Technical Support Engineer to their expanding team.

Job title: Technical Support Engineer
Location: Primarily based in Manchester, with UK travel as required.
Reporting to: Technical Service Manager
Staff reporting directly: None

Organisational and departmental relationships:
Reporting directly to the Technical Service Manager, you will give regular information on Scheduling, Engineering and Service activity. You also be required to produce written/automated reports on a frequent basis. This is a new position to provide critical support to the administrative/commercial function of the operations and engineering activities in a rapidly growing ,fast paced, energy generation business.

You will work closely with Operations, HSQE, BusDev, Accounts and Projects to achieve the aims set out below.

Technical Support Engineer - Department objectives:
* To maximise electrical production and reduce operational costs by taking responsibility (where this is economically beneficial) for the operation, scheduling and maintenance of all plant and equipment. Key to this will be our ability to comprehensively schedule, cost, operate and maintain our own and client's plant.
* To ensure the operation and maintenance of all plant achieve maximum safe electrical output
* The aim of the Company is to develop a successful, sustainable, and profitable business based on O&M services, gas utilisation, storage, solar and other emerging technologies

Technical Support Engineer - Main responsibilities:
* Ensure optimised scheduling of all operating assets.
* Regular monitor and forecast costs for in house and externally sourced Operation and Maintenance, refurbishment and/or modification of customer's equipment for contractual and budgetary purposes.
* Update and administer the register of costing models for all OEM platforms
* Collate costing models for adhoc and specific additional services
* Optimise the commercialisation of all additional services in accordance with business guidelines
* Liaise with clients providing technical resource to facilitate solutions.
* Administer continual, efficient scheduling, execution and recording of equipment maintenance as part of an asset management, quality and 'customer experience' system.
* Provide detailed reports regarding asset/site performance on a monthly basis or more frequently if required.
* Provide leave cover for the stores, parts supply function and control inventory level where appropriate
* Review oil analysis results and highlight anomalies to Supervisors and Technical Service Manager. Own the sampling database and report any shortfall.
* Reduce dependency on contractors, where it is economically prudent and avoid unnecessary expenditure by using skills and tools available within the Company
* Compliance with all relevant legislation including HSQE

Technical Support Engineer - Key tasks:
* Scheduled updates of the company's operations and maintenance costing models
* Assist with the scheduling of planned and unplanned maintenance for all plant in conjunction with Operations
* Monitor and record equipment performance through gathering relevant data and maintenance records and producing statistical reports.
* Review Service documentation and ensure any outstanding tasks are identified and scheduled.
* Recommend technically and commercially attractive propositions to suit client needs
* Timely scoping/costing of technical solution and engineering jobs with attractive commercial value for the business
* Coordinate engineering works in conjunction with Operations Managers
* Administer the supply of parts, equipment, and solutions
* Purchase order administration ensuring compliance with Company policies and procedures
* Implementation of HSQE systems
* Commitment to training to enhance knowledge and skills with regard HSQE and materials

Technical Support Engineer - CANDIDATE PROFILE

Knowledge/ Experience
* Knowledge and experience of mechanical and electrical plant operation and maintenance
* Work Scheduling, Operation and Maintenance of plant and equipment in a commercial environment
* Recognised formal level qualification in either a mechanical or electrical skill
* Experience with costing models and asset scheduling
* Experience with requesting costs for parts and OEM Maintenance schedules
* Knowledge of assessing accurate work scope and understanding field requirements
* Sound knowledge of databases and software systems
* Hold a full UK licence
