There is an exciting opportunity to join Bellway, one of the UK’s largest house builders. Our Head Office located in Newcastle upon Tyne is looking to recruit a Group Estimator to join the Group Commercial team. The Role The role of Group Estimator reports to the Group Head of Estimating. Principle accountabilities of the Group Estimator role include: Review and approve all commercial aspects of land appraisals from Divisional businesses. Provide hands on cost management support and advice to Divisions. Work closely with Group sales, engineering and design teams to ensure that land appraisals are robust whilst also ensuring that margins opportunities are maximised. Engage with Divisional Estimators to ensure that library costs are maintained and updated on a regular basis. Help develop a new land appraisal system including engagement with various stakeholders from within Bellway. Attend land review and approval meetings within Group and Divisional teams. Produce all necessary management reports and information to agreed timescales. Help develop and maintain a comprehensive set of Croup commercial policies and procedures. Communicate these policies and procedures and where necessary provide training and briefing to Divisional staff. Audit Divisional compliance with Group policy and procedures. Experience, Qualifications and Skills Experience You will need to have extensive relevant experience with either a house builder, consultant or associated field. Knowledge of the technical aspect of home building processes would be useful but not mandatory Qualifications and Training Commercial or surveying degree is desirable Chartered status in a commercial or surveying discipline CSCS card holder Full UK driving licence Skills and Aptitude Sound organisation and project management skills. Strong listening and communication skills. Expert knowledge of the Building Regulations. Strong networking and negotiation skills and able to influence Regulators, technical and construction staff. Self-motivating, enthusiastic, flexible and driven to meet deadlines. Smart and presentable. Ability to deliver training of a technical nature. Strong IT skills with experience of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Powerpoint etc. Advanced skills in the use of Excel would be an advantage. Committed to research, learning and self-development. A good problem solver capable of solving technical issues efficiently and effectively. Commercial awareness and a good knowledge of the home building process.
