Catfoss Recruitment Ltd are currently in partnership with a national major client and due to a retirement are looking to recruit a Minor Works Supervisor / Facilities Supervisor on a permanent basis to their team in York.

Minor Works Supervisor / Facilities Supervisor JOB SUMMARY/ PURPOSE:
Supervise direct labour force, including contractors, to carry out a large range of multi-skilled duties linked with maintenance and installation works across all core services.
Provide technical advice and support for the delivery of works to equipment, the local building fabric and utility services.
Plan and organise work activities including that of contractors to ensure works are completed in a timely manner and within operational budget.

Minor Works Supervisor / Facilities Supervisor KEY DUTIES:
* To support the operational manager with the delivery of minor works.
* To effectively communicate, verbally and written, with all stakeholders regarding all aspects of work requests/projects being undertaken including technical detail at times.
* Provide quotes for approval, via engagement with contractors, and use of internal labour.
* Attend meetings with stakeholders as and when required to understand their work request.
* Deliver various small works/projects concurrently.
* Provide training to various staff as and when needed.
* Time manage own workload, and that of staff, for the most effective use of labour and contractors.
* Use of localised ordering system for contractors and goods/materials in accordance with financial instructions.
* Ensure Health and Safety procedures are adhered to at all times.

Minor Works Supervisor / Facilities Supervisor KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Responsible for the supervision and wellbeing of identified staff.
* Responsible for supervision of staff ensuring high standards of work are undertaken.
* Responsible for ensuring correct working standards are adhered to.
* Responsible for ensuring all required paperwork is completed correctly and on time.
* Responsible for ensuring all Statutory and Mandatory training is completed in a timely manner.
* Responsible for the allocation of annual leave, public holidays etc, whilst ensuring adequate staffing levels.
* Monitor the attendance of staff and ensure the correct policies in relation to sickness/leave are adhered to at all times.
* Conduct return to work interviews following sickness absence, carry out relevant monitoring and support stages as detailed in company policy.
* Attend meetings and cascade information, as appropriate.
* To attend all training as designated by line manager.
* Participate in the recruitment and selection process including shortlisting, interviews and selection and monitoring of probationary periods.
* Check all time sheets against rota and countersign for authorisation prior to submission to Line Manager.
* Prioritise own workload taking into account the reactive nature of the job.
* Use own judgement and initiative when allocating work duties.

Minor Works Supervisor / Facilities Supervisor PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential
Education, Qualifications and Training
* Supervisory qualification to NVQ Level 3 (or working towards) or equivalent experience
* Completed a recognised Apprenticeship in building service/trade.
* Hold a current full and valid driving licence
* Able to undertake training where necessary to learn new skills & techniques.

Minor Works Supervisor / Facilities Supervisor - Experience & Knowledge Required
* Relevant experience post-Apprenticeship training and relevant experience.
* People management/ supervisory experience.
* Broad Practical knowledge or experience in mechanical/ electrical engineering, building, plumbing and joinery.
* Experience in multi discipline roles.
* Good knowledge and understanding of health & safety and relevant legislation.
* Ability to understand technical information and drawings.
* Good key board skills & knowledge of software, Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
* Competent knowledge of other trades.
* Good technical knowledge across all disciplines.
