Are you passionate about Health & Safety, want to be a key member of a senior management team with a strategic mind to move Health & Safety forward?
I am looking for an Enthusiastic Health & Safety Controller to be a key member of the Group Senior Management Team based on site in Birmingham. You will ensure all aspects of H&S on site are adhered to as well as managing the Health & Safety Officers based at other sites. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to step up and have influence in Health & Safety over multiple sites.

Your purpose is to formulate and implement strategic plans in the areas of Health and Safety. To ensure that the company is fully compliant in all aspects of Regulations, legislation and codes of practice and is fully compliant with its statutory obligations. Health & Safety strategy will be a key element of this role to continually drive agenda forward.

You will need to prioritise and organise an often varying and changing workload with differing levels of pressure whilst always maintaining a positive can-do attitude. Although based in Birmingham you need to be able to travel within the UK to our other sites regularly with overnight stays where appropriate.

Health and Safety Controller Strategy:

  • Formulate and implement strategic plans to continually drive the Health and Safety agenda including achieving broader ownership of health and safety.
  • Highlight and tackle the costs of work-related ill health, accidents and lost time.
  • Horizon scan and 'design-in' effective risk management of new or emerging technologies and business models.
  • Set appropriate targets to achieve the company must win battles.
  • Benchmark our performance against others in our sector.
  • Lead and engage with others to improve workplace health and safety.
  • Enable improvement through efficient and effective delivery.
  • Engage and collaborate on the learning from external experts with the goal to influence health and safety improvement across all sites.
  • Undertake on-going review of current practices, processes and procedures to identify improvements.
  • Through design, identify digital options to improve performance management for each site.
  • Strengthen Health & Safety leadership and worker engagement.
  • Continue to grow Health and safety Campaign 'Safety is no accident' with clear plan reported monthly to the Exec Team.
  • Ensure the Company Health and Safety Policy is prepared, updated and periodically reviewed to reflect all current legislation.
  • Day to day management of Health & Safety Officers at two other sites.
  • Complete monthly safety data reporting for Agrial/Eclor.



Experience:

  • Experience of working within Manufacturing Health & Safety Team ideally Food Manufacturing or experience within Food Retailer or Enforcement such as Environmental Health or HSE.
  • Management of a team is essential.
  • Able to demonstrate working knowledge within SME's and larger companies/corporates.
  • Desired experience of SAP systems



Qualifications:

  • GCSE's including Maths and English.
  • Relevant equivalent (Minimum NVQ 2)
  • Degree with at least 10 years relevant industry experience in Health & Safety Management including Strategy.
  • NEBOSH diploma or equivalent.
  • Appropriate management qualification.
