We have an opportunity for a dedicated Health & Safety Business Partner to lead the H&S agenda across our ReadyMix Business. About the role Supporting the Director of Health and Safety and the relevant Executive Commitee member(s) you will lead the delivery of the company’s Health and Safety agenda and longer term strategy. You will partner and provide value adding technical, specialist, Health and Safety support and guidance to the operational business whilst working in partnership with other functions, including the HR Leadership Team and other Business Stakeholders. Other elements to the role include: Supporting the development of the overall strategy of continuous improvement for Health & Safety initiatives Implementation of various programmes necessary to meet the Health & Safety goals Providing technical expertise, strategic leadership, training and support for various facilities, departments, BU’s, Regions and AIUK-wide. Developing subject matter expertise for specific risks / focus areas as the BU or region requires. Understanding the products and potential health and safety hazards, present at all sites, taking steps to mitigate potential health and safety hazards. Provision of Health and Safety advice to the business to ensure the successful implementation of current plans / roadmap and operation of the integrated management system. Ensuring legal requirements are identified and understood at a local level. Providing support to operational units in order for them to robustly undertake external audits and other high profile site visits. Support the business and sites in deploying the safety management system. Provide support for the evaluation of training needs, development and the delivery of training. Supporting high potential incident investigations, providing detailed feedback of findings and advice in a manner which enhances the organisational capability. Ensuring maintenance of an effective working relationship with enforcement agencies, the local community and other interested stakeholders Providing effective communication of issues and best practice to the Director of Health and Safety. What will you bring? Be able to demonstrate leadership exeprerience within a Health & Safety function, with proven experience of leading effective Health & Safety initiatives. Extensive knowledge of effective Health and Safety management strategies and best practice, with a detailed knowledge of current legislation and its application in a Quarry / Manufacturing environment. Holds (or working towards) a recognised professional safety qualification e.g. NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent, iema foundation course. Holds (or working towards) Chartered status to the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH). Excellent written and interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and challenge constructively. Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across the H&S team and wider business. Able to demonstrate effective team working and networking skills. Highly motivated, with proactive approach, improvement and solution orientated and ability to work independently using own initiative. Ability to plan, prioritise and organise own workload. ​What’s on offer?
