Regional Health and Safety Manager

There is an exciting opportunity to join Bellway, one of the UK’s largest house builders. We are looking to recruit a Regional Health and Safety Manager to join the Health and Safety Team. The Role The role Regional Health and Safety Manager will provide support, training, monitoring of sites/offices to ensure compliance with health and safety policies, procedures and legislation as well as provide feedback on any accident investigations. The successful applicant will cover the following areas: North East, Durham, Scotland East and Scotland West The role of Regional Health and Safety Manager will report to the Group Health and Safety Manager. Principle accountabilities of the Regional Health and Safety Manager role include: Ensure Bellway’s health and safety policy and procedures are followed and employees are aware of and understand Company health and safety policies and procedures. Regularly carry out audits of Bellway development sites and contractors to ensure consistency and compliance with health and safety legislation and Company health and safety policy and procedures. Provide professional advice and guidance to management and site teams in accordance with Bellway’s health and safety policy and procedures. Investigate and report on accidents/incidents, liaise with the HSE, EA as required, recommend actions to prevent reoccurrence and provide information/data to the Group Health and Safety Manager. Create a positive approach to safety, accident prevention and the health of all employees. Promote knowledge sharing and learning within the health and safety team to develop and improve effectiveness. Maintain close contact and good working relationships with Construction Directors, Managing Directors and Regional Chairs. Liaise with HSE, local authorities, fire authorities and any other safety/trade organisations. Regularly provide updates, statistics and management information to the Group Health and Safety Manager. Support sales and customer care functions to raise knowledge and awareness of Bellway standards and expectations for their areas of responsibilities. Deliver internal health and safety training as required. Attend health and safety meetings and represent Bellway at external meeting such as the HBF as required. Assist the Group Health and Safety Manager with ad-hoc projects as required. Experience, Qualifications and Skills Experience Experience of working as a Health and Safety Adviser or Manager Experience of high-rise developments and RC frame. Experience of working for a large volume housebuilder is desirable. Fully conversant with all current health and safety legislation, codes of practice and other documents that give guidance on the means of ensuring the highest standards of health and safety, which are reasonably practicable to attain or achieve. Qualifications and Training NVQ 5 Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health or equivalent is desirable IOSH or working towards. Full UK driving licence. Skills and Aptitude Exceptional communicator with the ability to present and converse across a wide audience Excellent attention to detail Excellent administration and organisation skills A self-starter, who is able to demonstrate high levels of initiative and motivation, but also work closely with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines Proficient IT skills along with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook) and the ability to adapt to new systems.
