Breedon is a leading construction materials group in the UK and Ireland. We operate two cement plants, around 80 quarries, 40 asphalt plants, 170 ready-mixed concrete and mortar plants, nine concrete and clay products plants, four contract surfacing businesses, six import/export terminals and two slate production facilities.

We are currently seeking a Regional Operations Manager for our Southern Contracting business, based at our head office in Breedon on the Hill near Derby.

Reporting to the General Manager Contracting, you will be responsible for leading the operations function, safely delivering exceptional customer service and quality across the region, whilst ensuring full compliance with our quality, health and safety and environmental management standards and policies.

The key responsibilities of the role are:

  • Implement an operational performance strategy that complements the business strategy
  • Identify and implement technological and digital improvements to our activities
  • Identify and implement cost saving initiatives
  • Liaise with our jv business, Breedon Bow Highways, to exploit business synergies
  • Ensure rigorous quality control and compliance
  • Maintain a suite of operational KPIs to measure and challenge performance
  • Ensure a positive health and safety culture is exhibited, and leads our performance
  • Ensure a coaching and development ethos that enables individual's potential to be exploited
  • Build and maintain strong client and supplier relationships
  • Operates our sites in an environmentally friendly fashion
  • Collaborate with the supply business to maximise recycling potential

You will have significant, previous management experience in surfacing and highways operations. You will also have the ability to drive profits, optimise efficiency and quality, and develop team members through strong leadership skills, persuasion and inspiration. You will be IT literate and have excellent organisational, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
