There is an exciting opportunity to join Bellway, one of the UK’s largest house builders as a Group Project Director. The Role The role of Group Special Project Director will report to the Regional Chairman (London and South East) and will be responsible for the overall management of projects. Principle accountabilities of the Group Special Projects Director role include: Liaising with all stakeholders to agree the scope of specific projects Creating all necessary processes and policies associated with the administration of the specific project and ensure that these are communicated effectively. Coordinating and supervising members of the project team Overseeing project implementation, as well as monitoring and reporting project progress. Completing an ongoing evaluation of project scope/strategies and subsequently evolve as required to ensure successful implementation. Specific projects include: Fire Remediation Managing a project delivery team to administer fire remediation works across historic building portfolio Monitoring programme progress and cost control of remediation projects Providing day to day advice on incoming projects Correspondence with MHCLG and other stakeholders (including Management Companies, solicitors etc) Developing a Company Fire Policy. Providing in-depth monthly MI and reports to show progress and project updates. Innovation Working with the Group Innovations Manager reviewing forthcoming Building Regulation/legislative changes that will impact upon the business (notably Part L, Future Homes Standard and electric vehicle charging) Establishing trials and the cost/benefit analysis of preferred Future Homes Standard options Working with divisions to trial alternative construction methods, specifically MMC Identifying standard component items that can be utilised across the Group alongside traditional construction methods to expedite programmes, promote consistency and drive quality Liaising with divisional teams and supply chain to identify new products and working methods which may be suitable for wider introduction across the Group Artisan (standard house types): Responsibility for the house type portfolio, including; new/updated technical drawings, compliance with building regulations, training and roll-out. Preparing layout guidance to maximise both design and plotting efficiencies on acquisition/planning layouts Liaising with internal departments to ensure that a coordinated approach is taken. Experience, Qualifications and Skills Experience Extensive senior level experience of working for a house builder, consultancy or supplier/sub-contractor in a relevant field with expert knowledge of building regulations Expert knowledge of the building regulations, fire remediation, NHBC standards and sustainable construction methods. Understanding of current legislative position and forthcoming changes (notably Building Safety Bill) and business implications Understanding of legal obligations associated with regulatory and civil liabilities Qualifications and Training Ideally Degree Qualified in a technical, commercial or construction discipline Working towards or already Chartered in a technical, commercial or construction discipline Hold relevant level of CSCS Card Full UK driving licence Skills and Aptitude Strong listening and communication skills Strong networking and negotiation skills and able to influence regulators, technical and construction staff. Self-motivating, enthusiastic, flexible and driven to meet deadlines. Able to deliver training Committed to research, learning and self-development Proficient IT skills along with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) and the ability to adapt to new systems Committed to diversity and inclusion The Role and Working Conditions Willing to be flexible in respect to day to day duties and hours worked.
