Job Description
~~What we’re looking for
Principal Engineer Infrastructure Technical Authority
Location: Brentwood
You will be responsible for leading the design of complex engineering projects, ensuring the safe, efficient and innovative technical delivery of engineering systems, associated with bridge, tunnel & complex infrastructure projects.
You will lead PERI colleagues in the delivery of challenging infrastructure projects managing the preparation of all necessary technical documentation for fabrication, assembly and application of Group Products and projects with Special or Advanced solution requirements.
Key duties:
• Prepare and present proposals to customers facilitating specialist technical discussions
• Support preparation of offers with technical advice and guidance on both standard and non-standard system applications
• Create preliminary calculations for project support in the offer phase & prepare cost calculation of system and engineering support
• Prepare detailed structural calculations, “Proof of Stability” design charts & worksheets according to UK codes
• Work with 3rd party Engineers and public authorities as required to evaluate the system designs and static proofs
• Design custom components as required and produce assembly and fabrication drawings
• Review and approval of structural design drawings and calculations prepared by others
• Communicate and collaborate with internal and external customers
• Carry out on- site project meetings with customers and Sales Engineers when necessary
• Identify technical issues proactively to eliminate or mitigate design risks
What you’ll need
Experience
• Independently drawing up designs (GAs, Assembly and Fabrication drawings)
• Prepare and understand static proofs (essential)
• Creating proposal preparations
• Technical management of projects and employees involved in these projects
• Taking personal responsibility for both static preliminary design and auditable calculation reports
• Cross-project cooperation with other technical departments and subsidiaries
• Comply with agreed company processes and procedures in compliance with overall company goals, working together with all departments to provide excellent customer experience
• Design solutions safely, technically accurate, compliant with regulations and codes, produced in a timely manner to achieve production goals
• Provide full and accurate material list for contracted projects and effective communication with Logistics team for high volume or non-standard products
• Coordinating external fabricators regarding the fabrication of special steel parts and components
