Breedon is a leading construction materials group in the UK and Ireland. We operate two cement plants, around 80 quarries, 40 asphalt plants, 170 ready-mixed concrete and mortar plants, nine concrete and clay products plants, four contract surfacing businesses, six import/export terminals and two slate production facilities.

We are currently seeking a Plant Operator based at the Blaenau Ffestiniog site in North Wales. The role is temporary and expected to be approximately six months in duration on a fixed term contract.

You will operate the Industrial Minerals Processing Plant and associated plant and machinery as directed by the Plant Manager and in accordance with the Manager's rules, company procedures, and statutory legal obligations.

The key responsibilities of the role are:

  • Operation of crushing, drying and screening plant
  • Operation of coating plant
  • Operation of heavy quarry plant, including wheeled loading shovel, articulated dump truck, forklift truck and water bowser
  • Operation of bagging plant
  • Weighbridge Operator / Administrator functions in the absence of other office staff
  • Ensure that all work being carried out on site either one's own or that of others is carried out safely.
  • Record keeping in daily and environmental logs, including the reporting of defects.
  • Compliance with Company Safety Commitments.

You will possess the following skills and experience:

  • High level of Health and Safety Awareness
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Problem solving
  • Lean Processes and 5S Principals
  • Desire to learn and develop
  • Confident decision making
  • First Aid certification (desirable but not essential)
  • Have knowledge of carrying out Risk Assessments and familiarity with Safe Systems of Work
  • Co-operate with Site Management in complying with all site safety rules and accident reporting, and other relevant legislation.
