Category Manager

Job Description

Are you business minded with a passion for supply chain and procurement within the manufacturing or construction sector?  If so, we may have just the role for you!

 

As one of our Procurement Category Managers, your major responsibility will be to work in close collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders to manage the end-to-end procurement and commercial requirements for specific spend categories.  Key areas of spend and experience required spare parts (MRO), engineering & maintenance services, capital equipment purchases, inventory management tools (consignment / VMI), best cost country sourcing (China, India, Turkey etc).

 

About the role

The  main focus of this exciting role will be working with end-users and internal departments to develop specifications, you’ll also be tasked with creating annual category strategy and execution plans including spend, market and supplier analysis. The Procurement Category Manager role also involves the management of tender, supplier and contract award/ implementation process.

 

Other key deliverables include:

  • keeping up-to-date on performance targets through the maintenance of monthly progress reports

  • identifying opportunities to rationalise and reduce the number of suppliers to an optimum level

  • organising and running regular review meetings with end-users, stakeholders and suppliers

 

About you

  • High levels of motivation, energy and enthusiasm

  • Driven to achieve department & personal objectives

  • A professional approach to all stakeholders, with a real customer-focus

  • Great organisational skills, especially around workload planning and consistently delivering to timescales

  • Educated at least to ‘A’ Level (or equivalent), preferably with a Degree or equivalent qualification
