Production Manager

Job Description

Are you an experienced Production Manager with a good working knowledge of manufacturing with timber?
Can you demonstrate your excellent people management skills?

This leading manufacturer of construction products is going through some steady growth and now needs to cover the current PM who will be taking maternity leave (option to stay with the company after this). This is primarily a 5-day week role working a day shift fixed pattern.

You will be a Production Manager for one of the largest manufacturers of this particular timber construction product for their facility in Newport, South Wales. This is a challenging role, in which you will need to ensure efficient staff management (around 35) reporting directly to the Operations Manager for this particular site, and to maintain an efficient output in order to maintain the company's place in a highly competitive market.

You will need to demonstrate a strong track record of the following:
- Strong and effective people management skills - you need to combine excellent people skills with strong management abilities
- Ability to work well under pressure, with demanding targets and deadlines
- Experience in manufacturing with timber, ideally you will have worked your way up to Production Manager from the shop floor, or are a Production Supervisor looking for the next step in your career
- Excellent working knowledge of continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, 5S etc
- Commitment to Health and Safety
- Quality Assurance/Quality Control
