Area Technical Manager

Job Description

We have an opportunity for an Area Technical Manager to plan, direct and coordinate technical support to 16 ready mix concrete plants in the East & West Midland area. Ensuring product conformity, mix design optimisation and supporting the development and sales of value-added special products. About the role Working closely with the Area operations team, you will support, advise and provide guidance to ensure the company adheres to minimum legal and product standard requirements at optimum cost. Other elements to the role include: Working with the sales team you will provide support in a technical capacity, assisting them to grow the sales of our special products range and delivering the best solution to our customers Reporting to the Technical Director you will build solid and lasting relationships with senior technical, commercial and operational management across the business The role will be supported by area ready mix concrete technicians and you will manage the services of a test house and mix design laboratory that delivers testing and mix design for other regions Maintain a safe and health working environment Operate and manage the quality management systems to ensure attainment of the KPI’s Ensure that conformity KPI's are agreed, set and monitored Review material packages to ensure the region maintains the lowest practical cost base Liaise with our admix suppliers to optimise mix performance and cost Interact with the area management to highlight trends towards non-conformity Assist in troubleshooting, root cause analysis to identify areas of conformity improvement Agree and where necessary develop workflow/ procedures for compliance Monitor effectiveness of the corrective action Ensure all impediments to conformance are addressed or escalated for resolution Act as QSRMC lead and conduct internal quality audits of the site locations where conformity control fails to meet defined requirements Prepare and present quality technical information to the management team Provides support, product training and guidance to our customers in pursuit of growth in special products sales What will you bring? Experienced ready mix concrete technical professional Recognised qualification in Concrete Technology (e.g: ICT Concrete Technology & Construction Stage 2; University Certificate in Concrete Technology) is desirable Proven experience in a Quality role within a Construction, Civil Engineering or Building environment and have experience of working with concrete Keen eye for detail Strong communication skills Champions best practice and continual improvement Experience and knowledge of EN 206, ISO 90001 system management and auditing Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective working relations with others Detail and results oriented with strong personal values to succeed Highly organised with demonstrable planning and delivery capabilities ​What’s on offer?
