Mechanical Maintenance Chargehand

Job Description

We have an opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Chargehand to contribute to furthering the site ambitions by leading, coordinating and assisting one of the teams maintaining the plant and processes in a professional and quality focussed manner. About the role As part of the Engineering Department at our Flagship site Bardon Hill Quarry and a member of the shift teams you'll be expected to contribute to the preparation and development of safe working methods for repair procedures and respond to plant breakdowns – ensuring it is returned to production in a timely manner, and temporary fixes are followed up with a permanent solution. Other elements to the role include: Be a role model and commit fully to delivering safety excellence Understand fully Company safety procedures and contribute to the site IMS proactively Competently undertake mechanical work of all kinds to the highest personal and professional standards as required Ensure that any persons under personal control are competent and authorised by site management for work at the site Contribute to the maintenance of all technical literature, diagrams, equipment schedules and other information Competently carry out inspections and tests of mechanical equipment and installations Immediately notify in the approved manner all defects and reinforce those which could result in either a serious risk of personal injury, fire or a breach of statutory requirements Act as an Isolation Controller Operate assets periodically to confirm performance Deal with all daily issues professionally and liaise with line management on a regular basis Deliver optimum plant and asset condition and availability Optimise utilisation of resources of all types Commit to excellent standards of workplace organisation and foster continuous improvement cultures What will you bring? Ability to work as part of a multi-shift operation as required Committed to excellence in safety and operational performance Driven and enthusiastic individual Able to work effectively alone as well as contribute in the team environment Good communication and team working skills Experienced in industrial electrical maintenance Experienced fitter ideally Mechanically biased who is also skilled in welding, cutting and fabricating techniques (Tech qualification, NVQ3 or equivalent would be advantageous) Ability to plan and implement maintenance schedules and good working knowledge of engineering drawings Ability to work to deadlines​ What’s on offer?
