Quarry Operations Manager (Ref: 9616)

Job Description

Aggregate Industries a leading manufacturer and supplier of concrete and aggregate products to the construction industry are currently recruiting for a Quarry Operations Manager based at our Chard Junction Quarry. About the role As a quarry manager, you will be responsible for managing production and extraction activities, recruiting and training staff, troubleshooting any technical problems and overseeing the maintenance of equipment and vehicles. You will be required to conduct risk assessments and health and safety inspections. Other elements of the role include: Maintain financial performance of the site in line with budget requirements ensuring processes are implemented to report all information required for accounting purposes Implement and ensure compliance of the company’s Cardinal Rules, Health and Safety policies, Environmental Policy, Site Specific Rules and to ensure that all activities under your control are conducted within the requirements of current legislation To operate the quarry in accordance with the planning permission and any other environmental permits To ensure quarry operations are carried out in accordance with the geotechnical assessment and quarry design plan To ensure there is a suitable and sufficient appraisal of all proposed and existing excavations or tips at the quarry in order to determine whether they represent a significant hazard To ensure operations are carried out in a manner which minimises their environmental impact on the surrounding and our near neighbours Instigating Incident investigations in the area of your control in an accurate, methodical, detailed way ensuring that it complies with the company and other regulatory standards ensuring that line management is kept informed within the required timescales Ensuring that key government health and safety legislation (Quarries Regulations 1999 and Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Regulations 1992) is implemented throughout the site Effective utilisation of all plant, equipment and facilities under your control to ensure optimum REE Ensure that staff are managed effectively by following HR requirements such as dialogue, job review and performance and absence management To ensure the effective utilisation of the workforce under your control, by maintaining good discipline throughout What will you bring? Understanding of Quarry Regulations, Statutory Health & Safety and Employment legislation. SHE NVQ Level 3 or QCF Equivalent Knowledge of geological factors in quarry design and development Demonstrable experience of a similar or equivalent role Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective working relations with others Detail and results orientated with strong personal values to succeed Highly organised with demonstrable planning and delivery capabilities Understanding of budgets and financial responsibility What can we offer you?
