Hertfordshire County Council wants contractors to bid for a highways maintenance framework which could be worth up to £400m.

The seven-year contract may be extended to a maximum of 12 years in total, giving it a maximum value of £800m.

The contract covers: winter service; street lighting maintenance and refurbishment; sign and bollard cleaning; verge maintenance; drainage and cyclical maintenance; emergency response and reactive repairs; responsive and planned proactive repairs; and planned programmes of highways and civil engineering works.

The deadline for expressions of interest is 13 September.
