Amey has acquired the rail consultancy of WYG Engineering.

The acquisition sees Amey secure almost 100 staff plus a portfolio of existing contracts from WYG, including a number of professional services frameworks for multi-disciplinary design services.

Amey, which already has a number of rail design services contracts, said the acquisition would enhance its civils and stations capability and increase its rail geographical footprint.

Mel Ewell, chief executive of Amey, said: “This strategic acquisition shows that Amey is committed to achieving sustained growth across the business with a real emphasis on the rail market.
