Barr Construction has been appointed to build St Helens Rugby League club's new stadium.
The ground is part of a £44m development on the former United Glass site, which also includes a 140,000 sq ft Tesco supermarket.
The 18,000 capacity stadium will feature corporate hospitality facilities, meeting rooms and conference space for up to 1,600 delegates.
It is scheduled for completion by the end of 2011.
House builder Taylor Wimpey will build new homes on the site of Saints' old ground, Knowsley Road.
