Barratt has signed an agreement to build a 180-home development in East Cowes, Isle of Wight with the Homes and Communities Agency and the South East England Development Agency.
The house builder will begin construction work the 137 houses and 43 flats early next year if a planning application lodged with the Isle of Wight Council is given the go-ahead.
The 11-hectare development, phase two of the East Cowes Project, also includes a new Waitrose supermarket, a medical centre, a town square, and a further 300 homes during later phases.
In a separate application, SEEDA has submitted plans for a 300-berth marina.
