Devon contractor Blight & Scoble, which went into liquidation earlier this month, owed creditors £2.6m.
There were 50 job losses when the firm, which was established in 1895, ceased trading.
The employees are owed £338,000 in total, reports The Herald.
Suppliers owed large sums include Mark Proctor Flooring of Teignmouth (£35,000) and Brunel Road Timber (£9,500).
The total creditors bill may prove much higher, as many companies have not yet put in full claims.
