Contractors wanted for £300m Essex housing framework

11 Oct 10 Housing association East Thames is inviting contractors to bid for a housing framework, worth up to £300m over four years.

Housing association East Thames is inviting contractors to bid for a housing framework, worth up to £300m over four years.

East Thames looks after over 13,500 homes in east London and Essex.

The framework, which begins in March 2011, covers housing and community facilities, and will be chiefly new-build projects with some refurbishment. There will also be preparatory work, including demolition, land decontamination and remediation.

The framework will be divided into two lots, by value of construction:

  1. Projects worth up to £5m, worth between £10m and £50m in total.
  2. Projects worth over £5m, worth between £60m and £350m in total.

East Thames expects to invite a maximum of 25 contractors to tender, and will appoint around five contractors to each lot.

In addition, it will appointment ‘reserve’ contractors to allow flexibility in managing contractor performance.

The framework will be for use by East Thames and its subsidiaries, plus London and Eastern region county councils, local authorities, district and borough councils, and other public sector entities.

The deadline for expressions of interest is 11 November.
