Crossrail has identified potential savings worth "hundreds of millions of pounds", according to a report published today.
The Times said the delivery body for the £16bn cross-London rail scheme believes “significant” savings can be made in the construction of stations in the West End and the City, as well as the main tunnels.
Crossrail is due to present an updated delivery cost estimate to the Government by the end of the year.
Already, Network Rail has claimed it can trim both cost and schedule for the surface works of Crossrail.
