The Highways Agency has appointed Enterprise Mouchel for the day-to-day management of the motorways and strategic roads in Cumbria and north Lancashire.
The Area 13 Managing Agent Contact is worth £149m over a five year period, and starts on 1 July this year.
Enterprise Mouchel will be responsible for the maintenance of 519 miles (835km) of roads and bridges including the M6 and M55 motorways, the A66, A590 and parts of the A585 and A595.
This contract includes some of the most diverse and scenic sections of the Highways Agency's network.
Area 13 was previously held by an Amey / Mouchel joint venture, so Mouchel has now extended its stake.
Enterprise Mouchel is a fully incorporated company jointly owned by Enterprise and Mouchel, specialising in highways network management services.
