Four contractors are in the running for a £30m Tesco-led regeneration scheme in West Bromwich.
Bam Construct, Galliford Try, Vinci, and Simons Construction are all chasing the project, which involves a major redevelopment of the Black Country town's centre.
Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council gave planning permission in May for the 570,505 sq ft scheme on a 15 hectare site.
The project includes a Tesco Extra store, shops, a restaurant, a cinema, the realignment of the Ringway road, a new public square, and 1,900 car parking spaces for town centre shoppers.
Demolition work on the site is already underway. Construction of the main retail development is scheduled to begin later this year with an estimated completion date of autumn 2012.
