Galliford Try has been awarded a £17m deal for the construction of a new leisure centre by Warrington Borough Council.
The design and build contract at Orford Park, Warrington, involves construction of a 'community leisure hub', comprising a hub building of approximately 10,500 sq m, car parking and redevelopment of the existing park and grassed area.
The hub building will incorporate an 8-lane swimming pool, teaching pool, wet and dry changing facilities, fitness suite, function room, dance and multi-use studios, squash courts, 4 badminton court sports hall, library, community day care facilities, creche, 14-19 vocational training facilities and a cafe. It will also feature a 2,500 sq m medical centre.
The external works comprise forming new grass sports pitches, a new artificial pitch, skateboard and bmx park, cycle and walking trails, refurbishment of bowling greens, bowls pavilion and extensive remodelling of park landscaping.
