Kier lines up £80m-worth of Peterborough schools work

12 May 10 Kier has been announced as preferred bidder for the design and construction of the £20m Ormiston Bushfield Academy in Peterborough for Peterborough City Council.

Kier has been announced as preferred bidder for the design and construction of the £20m Ormiston Bushfield Academy in Peterborough for Peterborough City Council.

The contractor is also in line to win the reconstruction of Stanground College, worth £40m, and improvements to Orton Longueville School, valued at £20m.

The projects will be delivered by Kier Eastern, the Group’s local construction business, as part of the Partnerships for Schools National Contractors’ Framework.

Work at the Ormiston Bushfield Academy is expected to start in autumn with completion scheduled for May 2012. Work on Stanground College and Orton Longueville School is expected to start in autumn 2011 for completion in summer 2013.

Kier Group chief executive Paul Sheffield said: “We are delighted to be the preferred contractor to deliver this vision for the Ormiston Bushfield Academy. This, together with the likelihood of further opportunities at Stanground College and Orton Longueville School coming on stream, will enable us to make a real difference in the borough through the delivery of top quality student centred learning environments.”
