Morgan Sindall’s affordable housing business Lovell is set to deliver two housing regeneration schemes in Bath, with a combined value of more than £9m, for Somer Community Housing Trust.

The two schemes, in the Weston and Twerton areas of the city, will see the replacement of 1950s PRC (Pre-cast Reinforced Concrete) homes with brand-new flats and houses as part of Somer’s large-scale housing regeneration programme for its PRC properties – technically classed as defective – in Bath and Keynsham.

At Holcombe Green in Weston, Lovell has started to demolish 40 old properties and in their place, will build 44 new homes: 18 two- and three-bedroom houses, 22 two-bedroom apartments and four one-bedroom apartments in a scheme worth £4.1m. The new housing will be ready for occupation in stages, between October 2010 and May 2011.

In the second scheme, worth £5.3m, Lovell will build 56 new houses and flats in the Twerton area after demolishing 44 existing homes in Pennyquick View, Newton Road and Hinton Close. Demolition work will start in April 2010 and the new homes will be handed over between January and November 2011.
